For the contract letting some data important for the production have to be cleared.

At ordering of the label production we shall need the following data:

1. Label size – width (Y) x height (X), stated in mm. By “Y” letter we always specify the dimension “along the material track length” by “X” the dimension for the material width – see also the Section about Winding-up. In some certain cases also the information about the space between the labels is important (minimal or maximal) – mainly at sticking by machines. This information can be acquired at the manufacturer of the labelling machine.
2. Printed material -  that means the material on which the label is going to be printed. The basic materials are paper or foil. Paper can be e.g. mat, shiny, “wine”, metallic, colour, etc. The foils are divided according to the feature whether they are transparent or non-transparent. Also the material the foil is made of is important – e.g. polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), etc.
   
   A very important data is also adhesive type, by which your label will be sticked on on your product. The adhesive selection depends essentially on the intended product application. According to the adhesive type the label can be removed from the product easily, or on the contrary “irremovable”. It is also important to specify the thermal conditions the label will be used at. There will be an essential difference among the adhesives for frozen goods and e.g. for sun lotion. Selection of a right material and adhesive for the label is not a simple matter. Therefore, don´t hesitate and use the possibility of asking our specialists from the commercial section.
3. Number of labels - here the required quantity of labels must be considered, better for a longer term. It is always financially more advantageous to order higher amount of labels at once, than lower quantities several times. You can let calculate the price differences at particular costs within the framework of the total price calculation.
4. Colourfulness of labels - number of colours. At labels colour printing there are always 4 colours. At flexo-printing we can print 8 colours maximally, at screen-printing, theoretically, is the number of colours not limited, but when more than 3 colours are used the label price will be increasing substantially.
5. Lacquering - is being mainly for colour sharpening in the label. By lacquering the label will gain a compact highly shiny appearance. Further case is the label application in aggressive milieu (e.g. car cosmetics), when the lacquer will be serving also as a protection of the print itself against washing off. In lacquers it is important whether it will be covering the label in the whole area (whole-area-lacquering) or a part of it only (partial or local lacquering). The local lacquering will be used e.g. at labels, which are to be printed additionally, e.g. consumption date, etc.
6. Other requirements - Besides the conventional printing our production technology offers the possibility to use special printing techniques on labels.:
   • hot stamping - metallic foil applied on the printed material. The foil is applied to the material by special equipment – embossing stamp at the mutual actuating of pressure and temperature. For embossing golden and silver foil (in various shades) is being used mostly, but it is possible to choose other colours from our colour card as well.
   • embossing - is the technique where a certain design is being embossed into the material by a special equipment, e.g. Logo
   • printing in adhesive - printing of the underside of the self-adhesive material. We are able to print 2 colours into the adhesive. This technique can be used also for printing in underside of silicone carrying paper, for example in case that your labelling machine requires some special marks in the underside.
   • rotary screen - possibility of integrating the advantages of screen printing (that means high film and ink coverage) into flexo-printing technology. Most often it is being used for white ground tinting of colour-print on transparent foils. It can be used also for example for printing of logo inks.
7. Adhesive application on labels - must be specified whether the labels will be sticked on products manually or by the help of a labelling machine
8. Labels winding on - it is connected closely with the method of labels application. When sticking on manually the type of winding on makes no difference mostly and rather the maximal economy of the cut out is to be chosen, that means the minimal waste. On the contrary, the proper selection of the type of winding on is important for the labelling machines. There is often the difference of the winding on for the front and back side of the label, etc. The coil is being marked by us according to the subsequent picture, where the shifting of the “A” letter is defining, how the label should be “readable” and how the band of labels will be wound on …
